Government Funded Maintenance Loans
Many UK students choose to pay for their expenses while studying with a student maintenance loan from the Student Loans Company (SLC). This Government funded maintenance loan is paid directly into your bank account at the start of each term.
You have to give details of your household income and your course start date.
You can speak to us for more information on how much you can borrow in terms of maintenance grant.
Repayment of Government Student Grants
Once you’ve finished your course, your loan repayment will begin only once your income rises above the repayment threshold, which is currently £27,295 a year before tax (this equates to £2,274 a month, or £524 a week). So for example, if your salary is £2,310 a month before tax, you'll pay back £3 per month under the current repayment conditions.
Loan repayment terms are reviewed annually, so we recommend visiting the UK Government website for the most up-to-date information.

You do not need to tell SLC if your course has moved online, as long as your living arrangements stay the same. If they have changed, you must update your address in your online account.
